    I’ve been thinking about this since you posted it, and I agree it is significant in what it says about Father God and about Jesus who is the image and likeness of the Father. The character of the Father speaks of mercy, rather than sacrifice, so in presenting His perfect sacrifice to the Father on our behalf, it is keeping with that character that Jesus would appeal for our forgiveness on the grounds of God’s mercy.
